Saudi Arabia has announced that the moon of Dhul Hijjah has been sighted (10/27/2011), hence the 1st day of Dhul Hijjah will be on Friday, October 28, 2011. Accordingly, Eid-ul-Adha will be on Sunday, November 6, 2011. Please note that Islamic Center of Greater Austin follows global moon sighting.

We encourage ourselves and all the Muslims of Austin to take advantage of the 1st 10-days of Dhul Hijjah by hastening to do good deeds.

The Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) has said about the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." The people asked, "Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?" He said, "Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing (Bukhari)”.
