We are very excited to announce that Austin will be hosting its first annual, city-wide Qur’an Competition this Ramadan. Sponsored by a plethora of Austin organizations & Masajid, we’re excited to showcase the Qur’an talent Austin has to offer!
Over the course of three rounds, participants will be able to compete based on their age and skill level, whilst being judged by a premiere set of local and international scholars. Although intended to be competitive, this is also a wonderful opportunity for individuals to level up their engagement with the Quran.
Lastly, if competing isn’t for you, we’d love to have your support as a volunteer during the competitions!
Great event .
عن عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «خَيرُكُم من تعلَّمَ القرآنَ وعلَّمَهُ»
[صحيح] – [رواه البخاري
“The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it to others”: this is an address to the whole Ummah. Hence, the best of the Muslims are those who combine between these two properties of learning and teaching the Qur’an. Learning the Qur’an is one of the most honorable branches of knowledge. Such learning and teaching include both the words and meaning. Memorizing the Qur’an and teaching people how to recite and memorize the Qur’an is included in teaching. On the other hand, learning such recitation and memorization of the Qur’an is included in the process as well. The second kind of learning and teaching has to do with the meanings of the Qur’an. Hence, teaching the Qur’an also includes teaching Qur’an interpretation, how to do so, as well as informing people about the necessary rules in this regard.
