Childbirth Class at ICGA with Doula and Perinatal Educator Sister Shanada Lewis
This program will empower expecting parents with the information and skills they need to have the birth they want. This is an interactive class for couples or expecting/planning women that will be full of discussions, demonstrations, games and activities.
The goal of this program is to give expecting parents more knowledge and confidence as they embark upon the journey of birth, while learning in a fun way and connecting with other expecting/new parents.
Topics that will be covered:
The event will be hosted at Masjid Khadijah and lunch will be provided.
About Shanada Lewis:
Shanada is a certified doula and Community Outreach Perinatal Educator. She currently serves as an on-call birth and post-partum doula with GALS (Giving Austin Labor Support) and maintains a private doula service as well. She is an advocate for physiologic birth and believes all people should be empowered through their birth experiences, no matter how they chose to give birth. She is passionate about supporting new parents and easing their transition to parenthood. Shanada holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. She is also a trained hijama therapist and homeschooling mother of 7.
