إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَاتُ لِلْفُقَرَاءِ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَالْعَامِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَالْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَالْغَارِمِينَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ ۖ فَرِيضَةً مِنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

The Greater Austin Muslim Relief Committee is a committee that includes all the zakaah committees and welfare committees in the above mentioned mosques. The goal of which is to help as many needy Muslims as possible in the Greater Austin Area, Pflugerville, Round Rock and Cedar Park.

We are not an organization but an organized committee that collects your Zakah and Sadagah and provide it to those who are in need and as soon as possible. We now form what can be referred to as “Byat Maal al Muslimeen” –  The house of the Muslim funds. When we ran out of funds from ICGA we request from ICRR and when ICRR runs out of funds, we request from ICBC etc.

The committee meets on a frequent basis to discuss the cases and evaluate them then make the appropriate decisions concerning each case. We have a thorough application process to prevent fraud and we work very hard to get the funds to those who need it most and in the fastest possible ways.

The Quran and the Sunnah is the guide we follow when we disperse the Zakah and the Sadagah funds. The most basic principle in dealing with the cases is “dignity”. We treat the applicants with the utmost respect and we provide them with the help they deserve and as fast as possible. Those are our Brothers and Sisters. We give them the best of what we have. Al hamdu Li Allah.

Every masjid has an account for Zakaah and Sadagah and we would like to encourage you to pay your zakah and sadagah directly to the masaajid. If you plan to send your zakaah and sadagah outside of the country, please consider having part of it paid to us. There are so many needy Muslims that need your help here. Scholars recommend that you help locally and we agree with them. (Except for helping needy families and close relatives all funds are preferred to stay local).

We will send you updates of the projects we achieved and the projects we are planning to do for the 2016 year inshaa’Allah. (May Allah grant us the life and power to do so). Please visit your local Masaajid and donate generously to the Zakah and Sadagah funds.
